I realise that this might come off all wrong but I think that the way American politics has gone it would be better if Hillary and Obama both lose the primaries, it's safe to assume that the republicans will run someone like John McCain if he chooses to go on the campaign trail but even he'd be a poor choice because of his willingness to follow his psarties awful line.

In the last few American elections it's become more and more like a circus and in that climate having a woman president or an african americann president is not only a gimmickey and disengenuous way of getting people to the polls but it's a step backwards for both civil rights and femminism by implying that the only way either a woman or a black man could become chief executive is in a political charade. If either of them winn the primaries iit won't be because of their bold and daring new political visions it will be despite them (If they have any). Obama ore Hillary will be running because they are not old and white and they will be elected by virtue of their gender and skin colour. As far as Hillary goes she's pro-torture and has shown no sign of interest in dismantling the war machine and Obama has by his own voting record completely discredited his own claims at being progressive by voting for the very things he campaigned against (increased funding and troops for the war).

I wish that there was a way to honourably and respectfully elect a woman or an african american to the white house but the way politics had been reduced in the US they might as well vote in a water cooler or a dancing monkey ... maybe an octopus
